CIPC transfer

If you received an email from the registry (ZARC, the custodian of the .za namespace) saying your domain has been transferred to Frikkadel, this article explains what happened and what to do next.

What happened

The registry has retired its legacy system. Domains that were registered through it, including many registered via CIPC, have been moved to an accredited registrar. ZACR chose Frikkadel as one of five registrars to look after these domains. Your domain is safe, and nothing about your website or email changes.

What you need to do

  1. Register an account at https://frikkadel.co.za/register.php if you don't have one.
  2. Tell us once you have registered, quoting your domain name. We will connect the domain to your account.
  3. You can then manage the domain on our portal: nameservers, contact details, and free DNS management and domain/email forwarding.

Is my domain active?

  • Active: you can carry on as normal. Your next renewal is with Frikkadel.
  • Expired the domain must be renewed before it can be moved to your account. Once we have connected it to your account we will issue the renewal invoice.

Dates shown on your account

The expiry date shown on our portal is taken from the registry. If it looks wrong, contact us and we will check it against the registry.
